Martyr Concordius of Spoleto
The Holy Martyr Concordius, son of the presbyter Gordian, was raised in piety and faith in Christ, and therefore Bishop Pius of Rome made him a subdeacon. Together with his father, St Concordius fasted and prayed, and he generously distributed alms to the needy. With the permission of his father he settled not far from Rome with his kinsman Eutychius, spending his days in prayer and good deeds.

Allerede på 600-tallet var det et oratorium viet til Martina i Roma. På 700-tallet ble det bygd en kirke ved Via del Foro under Kapitol med utsikt over Forum Romanum. Den ble bygd som en dobbelkirke, det vil si med en overkirke og en underkirke, og ble viet til den hellige Martina.
Pave Sixtus V (1585-1590) ga bygningene og plassen til Lukas-akademiet (Accademia di San Luca), en sammenslutning av kunstnere i Roma. Da Pietro da Cortona i 1634 ble utnevnt til leder for dette akademiet, bygde han en ny overkirke og innlemmet underkirken i nybygget. Under arbeidene med Pietro da Cortonas egen grav ble det den 25. oktober 1634 oppdaget en kristen grav som inneholdt beina av en romersk kvinne og hennes to brødre. Pave Urban VIII (1623-44) erklærte at dette var restene av de hellige Martina, Concordius og Epifanius, og han skrev klassiske hymner til hennes ære.

St. Martina
Roman virgin, martyred in 226, according to some authorities, more probably in 228, under the pontificate of Pope Urban I., according to others. The daughter of an ex-consul and left an orphan at an early age, she so openly testified to her Christian faith that she could not escape the persecutions under Alexander Severus. Arrested and commanded to return to idolatry, she courageously refused, whereupon she was subjected to various tortures and was finally beheaded.

The report of his pious life reached Torquatus, the head of the Tussa region. He summoned the saint and urged him to renounce Christ, promising to make him a priest of the pagan gods
