Lot Nr.1005 A deluxe wheellock rifle, Johann Balthasar Zellner, Salzburg, ca. 1700. Heavy octagonal barrel, slightly swamped, with seven-groove rifling in 12 mm calibre and well preserved browning, floral engraving at the muzzle, a dovetailed brass front sight and a gilded, folding brass rear sight, the breech engraved with hunting and floral themes and Johann Balthasar Zellner's brass filled maker's mark. The wheellock with double set trigger masterfully cut in relief with St.Hubert, owl and a boar hunt (cock bridle screw replaced). The walnut stock carved in relief with floral designs and vines with animal heads (forestock was set on a long time ago, shrinkage crack at the lock), the fore-end cap, cheek piece and patch box set off with horn. The fine bronze furniture gilded and deeply engraved with monsters and grotesque masks (old reinforcement on the trigger guard). The wooden ramrod with horn tip. Length 114 cm.
